During the design process of the holiday house in Csömör, our goal was to create a home that, through its simple form, natural use of materials, and carefully considered spatial connections, would provide a functional and pleasant living environment for the long term. The exterior of the building was intentionally kept clean and restrained: the pitched roof, the prominent white framing, and the wooden facade cladding together give the house a subtle contemporary character. It was important for us that, while maintaining a modern appearance, the building would also fit the scale and atmosphere of the surrounding neighborhood.

The floor plan organization was primarily shaped by everyday usability and the maximum utilization of natural light. The central space on the ground floor is an open-plan living room, dining area and kitchen, which connects directly to the garden and the pergola-covered terrace through large glazed surfaces. Thanks to the generous openings, natural light becomes a defining element of the interior throughout most of the day, while the view of the garden remains constantly present inside the house.

On the upper floor, alongside the bedrooms, an open gallery space was created that can serve as an area for reading, relaxation or quiet retreat. In organizing the interior layout, we aimed to clearly separate the communal and private functions while preserving the open and light atmosphere of the entire house. The visual connections between interior spaces further reinforce this feeling.

In terms of material use, we preferred natural and durable solutions. The wooden cladding gives the building a warmer character, while the anthracite-colored metal elements and large glass surfaces represent a cleaner, more contemporary direction. The pergola, facade details and shading elements were also designed to ensure that the building feels visually light while remaining highly practical for everyday use. During the design process, we also considered the character of the surrounding buildings, with particular attention to the modern family house built a few years ago on the opposite side of the street, which features a similar architectural language and material palette.
